Restyle for two guys
May 3, 2009
two artists from vienna were invited to realize a project with us and stayed in lisbon for 10 days.

carsten and jo before the haircut
since both of them did a great job, we could not let them return to austria without a proper haircut (you will hear more about their work soon). sabine and jezz gave them a lesson in contemporary lisbon haircutting and they enjoyed it.

after 60 relaxed minutes with good music, they both liked their new hairstyle and one can really see the difference..

Inês Z the mistery girl from Lisbon!
April 23, 2009

ines our friendly punkgirl
Today Inês was up for an interview:
How long are you working in the salon?
I’ve been here for 3 and a half years already, time’s been flying….
How comes that you are still here – isn’t it boring?
Not really
We always have different clients and different work to do, and after all this time it’s like working with friends and family. The salon has a very good energy, and I usually don’t get fed up with good energies. It’s hard to leave!
What would you really like to try out one day?
Hmmm…. This is a hard one…. Luckily for me, I always have clients that let me do whatever I want, so I don’t think there’s anything I would like to do but can’t. In my own case, shave my head but then I wouldn’t have any hair to play with… And I love playing with hair…..

mrs Z a dedicated cutter
where would you like to work (at least for a while)
In an immediate future, i would like to work in Berlin, then maybe London to visit some friends, and in a few years Tokyo and Kyoto. And in Portugal, maybe spend a while in Porto. You should never put your own country a side…
What group of people is most inspiring for you?
Definitely Punk in all its variations and Japanese Anime. And my coworkers obviously, you always learn a lot and get inspired by watching others working.
You are quite concerned about the environment which is not very typical for a “alfacinha” – do you talk to the people in your neighborhood and in your family about that?
Maybe not in my neighborhood, but to my family, friends, coworkers, to everyone that comes into my home or to wich homes I go too…Everyone I caught doing something wrong… I’m a wee bit of a dictator with it
Would you like to become the Prime Minister of Portugal one day?
No… Not really… I don’t really like politicians. I think i would end up slapping all of those around me… Hehehe…

jezz's client happy after the haircut
jezz and her magic scissors did another innovative masterpiece: her regular customer who works in a quite conservative or at least classic environment, wanted a new, excentric cut. she wants to grow her hair but she also wants something fresh and outgoing. what a challenge for jezz.

undercut with design by jezz
since there was a lot of volume to cut off, jezz suggested to cut out a few waves and leave the hair on top long and even, like a curtain. the concept worked out nicely and her client now has two haircuts in one

Guia da Noite Party at Elevador da Bica
March 29, 2009

videoprojection on elevador da bica with our client
Guia da Noite organized a party on friday the 27th right in the heart of Lisbon: at Elevador da Bica where our shop is. Our shop was open until midnight. The girls decided to dress up a little.
Our clients liked this idea aswell and many curious people visited us or watched us working through the windows.

guys from italy booked a cut for the next day
Two boys from Italy booked a haircut for the next day and enjoyed the atmosphere. Silvia, Inês, Néria, Patricia and Tish worked really hard and looked fabulous. Nice clients, good music, excellent mood: a great evening at Wip- Hairport.
However, the real party only started around midnight whith people streaming to Bica. All our neighbours like Bicaense, Baliza, Bica-me and the other bars were absolutely crowded. We have no pictures from the party but we are sure that they will pop up somewhere on the Internet soon and we will try to post a link.

frederico on the drums!! hairport mini rules…
March 25, 2009

frederico our young client
Frederico likes to pull off different styles and Néria likes to surprise him with new looks. He usually leaves us with a cut design or a paintbrush which stays only for the weekend.
He likes to relax during the haircuts to prepare himself for his next gig on the drums.
Frederico is one of our favorite open minded youngster! Stay like that!

frederico cool as hell
Sabine is back!
March 9, 2009

Sabine back at work
after spending a few months at home with the baby boy, Sabine is finally back to work. she was thrilled to meet her clients and colleagues again and is full of energy and creativity.
she needed a bit of a warmup on the first day, but on her second day she proved her mastership with the razor and now she’s just unstoppable. the assistants are constantly removing big piles of hair and if she continues like this we will start producing carpets soon

meeting silvia pereira the queen of bica
February 26, 2009

silvia pereira stylist from toledo
today silvia our girl from toledo answered some questions :
How long are you working in the salon by now?
I’ve been living in Lisbon and working at Hairport for almost 7 years.
How comes that you are still here – isn’t it boring?
Well, on one side it is very tempting to move to some place else and start all over, but on the other side it’s also interesting to have a routine and to know how to deal with that. As long as I continue to have the liberty and support to explore other interests it will be a pleasure working here.
What would you really like to try out one day (but your client’s or you are too afraid)?
Something that I have never dared to do on a customer nor on me, but I just love it: a bob cut with everything clipped until above the ears. Does somebody dare to do this?
where would you like to work (at least for a while)
In Mexico City or in New York.

- silvia double take
What do you think about fashion magazine cover page girls?
I think that this type of magazine is for the H&M or Zara generation that tends to democratize fashion because everybody has access to it and all the girls from Beja to Tokyo seem to dress, walk and have the same attitude.
These magazines are stereotyping teenagers more and more.
Why do you like Alex de la Iglesia movies?
I just love this Spanish director because he is dynamic, brutal, fun and he knows how to choose the soundtracks. He’s the Spanish Tarantino and recommend the film “Perdita Durango” starring Javier Barden and Rosie Perez.
What kind of music do you like these days?
Definitely Colombian Cumbia

springtime at hairport
February 22, 2009
since the sun is out for more than a week now and the temperatures are rising we decided it’s springtime in lisbon. one afternoon was mostly dedicated to restyle ourselfs and get some color in our hair – it was fun obviously!

silvia working on inês
exchanging ideas and experiment on each others hair brings a lot of feedback into our everyday live. the comments of the people on the street, of our clients, our friends and our families fuel our creativity. the teamwork and the teamspirit is the most important thing within the wip-hairport salon.

the spring collection presented by inês and jezz
- haircuts by silvia, color by neria
in general one can say the work and the colleagues are quite boring and narrow minded!

no fun for four
